Page 1 – Overview: the whole estate on one screen
Five KPI cards open the report, each with a sparkline and a month-on-month arrow comparing December 2025 with November: Deployments 500 (+2.0%), Active Users 72,216 (+8.1%), Control Pass Rate 77.9% (+3.6%), Open Findings 5,787 (−20.4%) and Program Cost $39.67M (−5.6%).
Underneath, Program Cost and Control Pass Rate by Month puts spend as columns against pass rate as a line, and the story is a good one: the pass rate climbs from 71.3% in January to 83.7% in November while monthly cost stays roughly flat. Controls Passed and Failed by Framework stacks the two components so failure volume is visible in context – ISO 27001 passes 9.6K controls and fails 2.8K, while HIPAA passes 4.6K and fails around 1.0K.
Deployments by Deployment Type is a donut splitting Cloud 297 (59.4%), Hybrid 127 (25.4%) and On-Premise 76 (15.2%). Beside it sits the Compliance Framework Scorecard, a matrix with an in-cell cost bar:

Read that table for two minutes and you already have a board slide: SOC 2 is the most expensive regime at $8.48M, and it also has the second-worst pass rate. HIPAA costs $6.10M, passes 82.1% of its controls and carries the fewest findings of the six.
Page 2 – Compliance Trends: rollout progress and automation payback
Buying a tool and getting it into production are different things, and this page separates them. Cards: Deployments 500, Live Deployments 192 (+16.7%), Live Rate 38.4% (+14.4%), Controls Monitored 51,451 (+0.8%) and Audit Hours Saved 45,435 (+0.5%).
A 38.4% live rate is the number worth arguing about internally – of 500 deployments, 192 are Live, and the rest sit in Rollout, Pilot, Planned or Cancelled. Deployments and Live Rate by Month plots both together so you can see whether the backlog is clearing or just growing.
Audit Hours Saved by Month is the payback chart: an area curve climbing from 2,893 hours in January to 5,361 in November, which is the number to put next to the licence bill when someone asks whether automation is working. Program Cost and Satisfaction by Quarter then pairs quarterly spend with average satisfaction, which rises 3.6 → 3.9 → 4.0 → 4.2 across the year.
Page 3 – Frameworks & Tools: where the money actually goes
Cards: Deployments 500, Tools Tracked 24 (+4.8%), Program Cost $39.67M (−5.6%), Cost / Deployment $79,338 (−7.4%) and Satisfaction 3.9 (+1.0%).
Program Cost by Tool is the page’s centrepiece: a horizontal bar ranking every one of the 24 tools, from RiskLattice at $3.1M, NormaSuite $2.5M and PolicyNest $2.4M down through the long tail to EvidenceVault $0.9M and ObligoPro $0.8M. It is the fastest way to find the tool nobody remembers approving.
License and Implementation Cost by Tool Category splits the spend into its two real components, which matters because they behave differently at renewal – licence recurs, implementation does not:

The Tool Category Scorecard finishes the page with deployments, licensed users, control pass rate, program cost and a star rating per category. Policy Management leads on both deployments (111) and cost ($8,315,800); Vendor Risk is the cheapest at $4,079,700 yet posts the highest pass rate of the six at 78.6%.
Page 4 – Controls & Findings: coverage and the backlog it creates
Cards: Controls Monitored 51,451 (+0.8%), Controls Passed 40,095 (+4.5%), Control Pass Rate 77.9% (+3.6%), Open Findings 5,787 (−20.4%) and Findings / Deployment 11.6 (−21.9%).
The findings-per-deployment card is the one to watch month to month: a falling number means new tools are landing cleaner than the ones already in place. Open Findings and Control Pass Rate by Framework pairs volume with quality, and shows the pass rate sitting in a tight 76.5–82.1% band while finding counts vary far more widely.
Open Findings by Tool Category and Deployment Type is the triage matrix – it tells you where to send people, not just that there is a problem:

Page 5 – Adoption & Regions: the licence-waste page
If you only ever open one page of this report before a renewal, open this one. Cards: Licensed Seats 135,175 (−10.3%), Active Users 72,216 (+8.1%), Seat Utilization 53.4% (+20.5%), Idle Seat Rate 46.6% (−28.6%) and Cost / Active User $549.31 (−12.6%).
Just under half the seats being paid for are idle. That single figure usually changes a renewal conversation more than any control statistic, and the trend is moving the right way – seats down 10.3%, active users up 8.1%, cost per active user down 12.6%.
Active Users by Region splits North America 22,560 (31.2%), Europe 19,021 (26.3%), Asia Pacific 15,902 (22.0%), Latin America 9,510 (13.2%) and Middle East 5,223 (7.2%). Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a paid Power BI licence?
No. Power BI Desktop is free and opens, edits and refreshes the file completely. Power BI Pro is only needed if you want to publish the report to a workspace and share it through the Power BI Service.
Does it work on a Mac?
Power BI Desktop is Windows-only, so you would need Windows, a VM or a cloud desktop. On macOS, use the Excel version of this dashboard instead.
Can it connect to ServiceNow, Vanta or Drata?
Not directly. Export your tool inventory and control-testing results into the 18-column Data sheet and refresh. If those systems already land in a warehouse, repoint the Power Query source at the warehouse table and everything else stays as it is.
How many rows can it handle?
The sample has 500 deployments, but this is a straightforward import model – Power BI Desktop handles millions of rows. A few hundred thousand deployment records refresh in seconds on a normal laptop.
What if my data is missing some of the 18 columns?
Add them as empty columns so the model loads, then hide the visuals that depend on them. The ones you genuinely need are Date, Tool Name, Compliance Framework, License Cost, Licensed Users, Active Users, Controls Monitored, Controls Passed and Open Findings.
Is this a KPI scorecard?
No. This is an analytical dashboard – five pages of slicer-driven charts over deployment-level data.
