It is not a Data Protection Impact Assessment, not a surveillance risk assessment, not a system design, not a commissioning record and not an inspection certificate. It certifies nothing about camera performance, coverage, uptime or evidential quality.

One further caveat worth reading twice: if you record client site names, camera locations or any personal data in the workbook, lawful handling, minimisation and retention of that data are entirely your responsibility.   • Correct MTD and YTD behaviour. YTD sums for additive measures such as counts and money, and averages for rates and ratios. This is the single most common mistake in a hand-built KPI pack — a compliance percentage that totals 1,900% by December makes every YTD chart useless.
  • Owner and priority on every metric. Field Operations, Commissioning Team, Remote Monitoring Center, Network Engineering, Service Desk, Maintenance Planning, Commercial Finance, Compliance & Assurance, Project Management Office, Cabling & Infrastructure and Resource Planning all appear as owners, and every KPI carries a Critical / High / Medium priority you can slice on.

  • Line-chart axis labels sit at uneven intervals. On the KPI Trend page the Y axis reads 3.9 / 4.2 / 4.6 / 4.9 because Power BI rounds axis labels to one decimal place at that scale. Cosmetic, but visible.
  • Monthly granularity only. There is no weekly or per-site breakdown; the model is one row per KPI per month.
  • No per-site or per-technician drill. Adding one means extending the data model yourself, which is straightforward but is real work.
  • The prior year must be typed in. If you only have twelve months of actuals, every YoY figure will be blank until you add the earlier year.

Best Practices

  1. Fill the KPI Definition sheet first. Unit, formula, definition, owner, priority and direction drive most of what the report displays.
  2. Use site codes rather than site names or addresses. The report never needs the real name, and keeping personal data out of the file is the cheapest privacy control available.
  3. Load the prior year of actuals even if it is approximate. Without it, every YoY arrow is empty.
  4. Keep Data.xlsx and the .pbix in the same folder. If you must move them, use Home > Transform data > Data source settings > Change Source.
  5. Set the At Risk band deliberately. The shipped 95–100% band is a sensible default, not a rule.
  6. Do not delete the shipped demo rows until your own data loads cleanly — they are a useful reference for the expected column shapes.
