We can the group the text,date or numbers in pivot date. below are the example for grouping the text and date in a Pivot table.
Group for Text:
Let’s say we have product wise sum of sales and sum of sales and sum of revenue.
We have to create 2 groups, one for Product 1 & 2 and second group for Product 3 & 4.
- Select the Product 1 and Product 2 together.
- Right click and click on the Group option.
Group1 will be created for Product 1 and Product 2. Now select the the Product 3&4 and make the Group.
Once both the groups will be created, our pivot table will look like below image –
Group for Dates:
We also can make Group for dates by Years, Quarters, Months, Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds.
for example we have date wise sum of sales and sum of revenue.
Right click on the date and click on the group.
Grouping window will be displayed. In this window different options are available for grouping. Let’s say we want to make group by “Months“. Select the months and click on OK.
After grouping by Months our pivot table will be look like below image-
We can group by multiple option like by Years and Quarters. Select the Years and Quarters both in Grouping window.
After grouping by years and quarters our pivot table will look like below image-
Ungroup:
To ungroup the dates in pivot table, click on the pivot table and click on Ungroup. Dates will be ungrouped.
